UNCOMMON A pre-Fall act of planetary-scale hubris, designed by humans who thought the appropriate response to a shifting continent was to inoculate a borer with squid-jizz bacteria and tell it to go fix things.

Special Ability

◈ Fault-Soothing Ink

It jams a fissure full of a slippery bacterial biofilm that produces a blue pigment; the substance essentially greases the tectonic plates, making it harder for them to throw a catastrophic fit.

HabitatIt prefers the deep, dark, and decidedly unstable real estate along fault lines, particularly where the soil is soft enough for its delicate constitution, much like its distant, furry, and far less useful cousin, the pocket gopher.
DietIt sips on geothermal vents and dines on silicate minerals, because apparently the core of the planet is just an all-you-can-eat buffet for a well-connected worm.
BehaviorIt lives a solitary, vibration-sensitive life, listening for the groans of the earth. When it hears a fault line getting cranky, it waddles over and squirts its special bacterial sauce into the crack, like a bouncer calmly diffusing a bar fight before it starts.

Field Notes

Behold the Burrow Synth, a geological pacifier built like a tank-treaded intestinal worm. It grinds through the planet's crust with the frantic urgency of a pensioner on a Sunday stroll, its drill-limbs chewing rock into a fine paste. The only thing louder than its silence is the sheer, smug arrogance of its design—a machine built to tell continents to calm the hell down, humming a lullaby for fault lines.

You can't kill this thing. It's a ghost in the machine of the planet itself, and its only purpose is to piss in the gears of an earthquake. That lovely blue glow from its guts? That's the bacteria hard at work, shitting out a pigment as they perform their thankless job of lubricating the world's fractures. A shame their creators aren't around to appreciate the decor.

A geological pacifier that treats tectonic tantrums with bacterial lube.
